Posts: 1681 10/06/09 02:21 PM Owner /Administrator	Tags : None Ok Lulu got skunked last night !! I had no tomato juice in the house... so I made a bunch of phone calls and got this recipe. I wanted to post it because not only did it eliminate the smell almost immediately but seamed to remove it from the house as well. IT WAS AMAZING !!!!!!!! Apple Cider Vinegar .. 1 Quart,, 3% Hydrogen Peroxide 1 Quart...( the type you buy at any store) Baking Soda..1/2 cup. Liquid Dish Soap..2-3 teaspoons.( for lather) It will foam up and with a wash cloth just soak down the dog all over... Let sit on dog for 10 - 20 minutes if possible,,,, Then wash off !!! I have bought many Skunk products over the years and nothing worked like this. It is not a cover up like Tomato Juice... to only return on a few hours.. Also it took the smell out of the house also!! dont ask me how, I have no idea...It literally works , In a really bad Skunk spray.. this process may have to be reapplied two times.. I am going to look into it now to see if your recipe that you got is on there. Skunks are all over our area too - I worried big time when Abby was here - if we headed out the side door and there one was - I'd of died! And my arm would of been pulled out of the socket for sure!

Moderator Posts: 3054 10/18/09 06:53 AM	We have a skunk that visits us and the neighbors..he sprayed our MH and we took fresh ground coffee, not used and placed in dishes thru out the home and it absorbed the skunk, place smelled like fresh brewed coffee tho for days lol...now if I can figure out how to get Prissy from finding the smell and rolling in it....

The first year we moved to the country, both dogs got skunked and they were both barfing like crazy. Of course <city folks< that we were, we panicked, took them into across the whole house and on to my painting studio where I bathe them. The smell in the house lasted for months and months and when Buddy and Cleo got wet, the smell would just be horrible. One night sitting at my neighbour around the fire, their dog got skunked. She used Coca Cola, it has to be the real Coca Cola, not diet nor coke substitute. Poured it all over the dog, rubbed it in and then I helped give him a bath and the smell disappeared. I know it worked cause my girl got skunked the year after and that is exactly what I did. She didn't much like it cause the coke was coming out of the fridge, so a little cold for the princess however, it made it easy by the fact that she was licking some of the coke. I rinsed her off then brought her in and gave her a bath and voila. Now I keep a couple of big bottles of Coke in the fridge, just in case.

Makes you wonder what's really in the stuff, and if you really want to drink it...... Cindy and Nash Nash was born 9/2/1998, and is my sweet 1/2 breed Cocker Spaniel/English Springer Spaniel. He was dx'd with diabetes in November 2007 and is currently on 9 units of Novelin N twice a day. Nash went blind approximately 6 mnths after dx, has glaucoma and gets eye drops 5x day

Moderator Posts: 3054 04/10/10 07:49 AM	now that one is interesting, tho we would have to run down the store to get a regular coke. Prissy I think is in love with the skunk odor and our neighborhood guy has been visiting us again, they leave such a wonderful perfume lol
