They look very much alike but.....
I have never seen a picture of Killie scowling with wrinkles in his head. Killie was always so relaxed and calm looking, so sweet. and my Lucy, American Pugsley, age 15 -born 4/18/1996, DX. diabetic Nov. 07, blind 2/08, Weight 11 lbs., Humulin N 7 U , Homecooked chicken/white rice with canned Hills W/D My sweet, baby Lucy left me peacefully on October, 24, 2011 with her head on my shoulder and my comforting whispers in her poor little, deaf ear. I know she was met faithfully at the bridge by all her friends that went before her. Rest in peace, my baby. Lucy, 4/18/96-10/24/11 |

Oh Dee they look so much alike that if someone don't know hes gone and came in my house they would just assume its Killie...
No your right,, Killian didn't have wrinkles in his forehead... Charlie has a sadder face.... But it works for him.. Hes very lovable.... But not as mellow yet ! Hes just learning the sharp NO ~~~~He only needs that reprimand over the cats !!! I know he wont hurt them but wants the chase... The cats were terrified of him yesterday... Things are getting better today... Now when he sees them he looks at me first and I tell him NO ! and he sadly sits back down... So hes getting it ! He is not Killian but I can tell hes just what we both needed !!

Yes, of course he's got wrinkles and he's not Killian, but he's about as close as you could get. He sounds like a sweetheart Johanna. I'm
sure he is just what you needed. And I'm glad Eddie accepted him so well. What more could you ask. If I brought a dog home I'd be out on the
streets- that's for sure.

They said they thought he might have some Mastiff in him.
I think they may be right/// He likes to get up on his hind legs and put his paws around your shoulders and look at you as hes killing you... Such a big ham !!! Hes bigger then Killie.. His bone structure is larger and his paws are like a bear !

Johanna don't forgot to get a digital camera!!! Your phone is talking unclear pictures or is that you doing something wrong? Charlie looks like a big
bear!! Your cats will strike him and teach him not to chase. I hard a hard time with my dogs chasing Cleo the cat when I first found him. I filled a coke can
with pennies, When they tried to chase him I would shake the can and say " No" in a loud voice. It worked and they no longer chase. him. Maybe you
can try that.

Oh gosh Johanna, I hope he doesn't get as big as a Mastiff!! Yikes!!!
Yes, it's uncanny how much he looks like Killie. Remember when Jacqueline went through this......everyone at the dog park thought 'WHAT!!! That can't be Jenny!' It was of course Abbey......so, she is an example that it's okay to get another dog that looks like the one you just lost.......Everything is good at their house. Even Mona the cat loved Abbey because she looked like Jenny. Yeah, the pictures from the phone are a bit blurred. Try cleaning the lens......see if that helps. Probably has fingerprints on it.
Cindy and Nash
Nash was born 9/2/1998, and is my sweet 1/2 breed Cocker Spaniel/English Springer Spaniel. He was dx'd with diabetes in November 2007 and is currently on 9 units of Novelin N twice a day. Nash went blind approximately 6 mnths after dx, has glaucoma and gets eye drops 5x day |

OH Johanna, I'm so excited for you!!!
I haven't been on here much, I take it that this guy is a new addition to your family??? I guess Killian new that you still had so much love to give and that your heart was aching....so he brought Charlie to you. And yes, they do look similar. Definitely Killian had a softer look to him. I'm so excited....I knew you still had room in that great big heart of yours.... nobody can replace your Killie, we all know that, we just make more room. ((HUGS)) me and the boys

Yep... I'd say Charlie is a shoe-in for Killian! It's not just the similar colouring and body shape - it's the look and shape of the eyes. It's
harder to tell now because the photos of Killian were taken when he was older and you're comparing him to a much younger dog.
One thing is for sure - you manage to attract handsome guy-dogs to your life! Cindy's right! The longer I have Abbey, the more I know that finding a "look-alike" isn't a crazy idea. It's obvious that you loved Killian not just for his personality but his appearance, too. He was one perfect package to you, right? That's how I felt about Jenny. So why not get another dog who appeals to you in the same ways? It's weird how us humans often refuse to go for what we want. It's some kind of... I don't know... it's almost like we're beating ourselves up by denying what we really want. And in a world full of homeless dogs, it doesn't take long to find one who reminds us of our beloveds! There's no reason to deny a good home to a dog who reminds you of Killian. The cat issue: sounds like Charlie is starting to get the message but you might want to try scolding him for even looking at the cats. I don't mean throwing pots and pans at him - I mean saying "No" when he even glances at the cats. Don't wait until you see the "Gotta chase" look appear in his eyes. It was a dog trainer who gave me that hint. When we first got Jenny, I was mortified that she'd terrorize our cats, so I asked the trainer in advance how to deal with it. Poor Jenny got a scratch on the nose the first time she approached one of our cats so I never had to go any further. And I can't remember Ella even bothering with our cats. But some dogs have a higher prey drive and they love a challenge. Gosh... you must have a lot of over-turned furniture at your place these days!
Jac, Ella (golden retriever, not diabetic), Abbey (golden retriever/Irish setter, not diabetic) beautiful Angel Jenny (golden
retriever), and cats Mona and Ernie.
Jenny passed away February 15, 2008 at almost 14 years old. Weight: 65 pounds. Diabetes, myasthenia gravis, hypothyroid. Started on Caninsulin (Vetsulin) for 3 months then switched to NPH - 13 units twice daily. . |
