Our 11 year old cavalier boy has had to have his pain meds changed yet again. He has been on rimadyl, prevacox & tramadol. All seem to cause diarrhea if he is on it for more than a week. So now we are trying medacam. So far so good. It is helping him a lot too. Tomorrow I call the vet to update her & get a prescription for a bottle of it. I'm so glad he easily takes things for me.
His hind quarters are failing fast on us. I'm thinking by summer of next year he may be having to use a cart. I'm not sure how that is going to work. He wouldn't be able to lie down in one so having it in the house is not something I think will work. And he doesn't stay outside all that long anymore. Plus we have mostly hill for the back yard. The only thing it would be good for is walks.
But he is still a happy fellow & I will do anything I can to keep his life as comfortable as possible.
