Prissy is showing she wants more attentions directed towards you if I read your post correctly. I am thinking you have had a vet look at her recently and haven't found anything medically wrong? Ok, then I feel strongly she is doing this because she need attention (in her mind, you most probably spoil her).
I might describe it as the naughty child saying "Look at me". If you don't look at them, naughty dog/children will give you payback by doing things like chewing up things, chasing tails, chewing their skin the list can be long.
So what do you do? This "naughty child" has to be first checked out medically just in case it has been a long time she has seen the vet.
Then you need to have a few habits brought into your daily routine.
-in no certain order BTW-
when you come home from shopping or work do NOT talk to your dog or pat it or react to the room full of shredded toilet paper.
Then when you feel ready, have Prissy do some work- sit stay, roll over. What ever she does well and give her atreat and lots of positive reinforcement. Even if she has shredded the toilet paper.
She must have done her work to your satisfaction. If she hasn't put the treat away, walk away and do not say anything. IF you speak it could be misunderstood as positive reinforcement- So do not speak to her or even look her way.

In about 5-10 minutes ask her to do some work again. Hopefully she will do the work, sit, go "down" on her mat, "drop", "shake"- just as long as she obeys a command and it is several minutes after you ignored her when you came into the room.

*How to act when you discover she has ripped up your sofa 8-)*
Just as you did above - you ignore her and you turn your shouts, cries of dismay, and desciptive vocabulary towards the shredded bits laying on the floor- not to the dog. When is it all cleaned up and visually neat then say "That's better" (sigh) and get on with your business. If by chance Prissy grabs something else and starts to repeat that behaviour then you can go to her and say "No Prissy, bad dog! DROP!" hold your hand out and wait for her to drop the object into your hand or on the floor. (this is a good time to have a treat ready believe it or not hidden) then when she does IMMEDIATELY reward her.
-you need to wait for her preformance which is dropping the paper in her mouth
-you need to have a cut off time that you feel is your limit. eg. one minute is not enough but it is an exptremely long time when you are upset. I suggest you just wait for the dog to drop it whatever the time is.
-Ignoring the bad behaviour is essential. Negative reiforcement does not work. You have to have exact timing, dogs do not understand usually why the are being yelled at.
*How can you stop this from happening in the future?*
Work. The dog needs a time where he or she feels she has done something for his group. Walks are always good. I have suggested in this forum before that a harness where they can carry a water bottle is good because it makes them feels they have done work. Other work is walking in a figure eight instead of just going on the straight path, stepping through the bike racks, going into the big cement water drains and out. Take them out on the lite line and throw the ball. Make them do something they can think about when they come home instead of ripping up your home.
a trick to teach;
The nutshell game
take three sturdy plastic cups.
have one very nice little toy (a non choking toy or an edible liver treat)
Have Prissy sit or lie down, show her the cups and place the toy under one. Rearrange the cups as you have seen in betteng games. Say "where is it?" then wait. Prissy will be thinking "what the heck?" then after a short while tap the right cup and pick it up saying "there it is Good Girl"
Let Prissy see you set it up for the next time and say"where is it?" and wait for her to do something. Hope fully she will put her foot towards one of the cups. If she does then lift up the cup and react. If it is not the correct one then say "no not that one!" then put the cup back down and say "where is it?" btw no treat. keep repeating this for a short time 5 minutes is all you need at first to start to learn this game. Try to end it on a good note IOW set up a win win situation, the winning cup for instance is out in front of her.
Since dogs are keep sniffers they will learn to sniff the toy or treat if they can't follow it under the cup as you move them around. You need to be consistent about how you want the to react, eg. place her paw on or near the cup or maybe just stare and bark LOL. I suggest that you do not let her knock over the cup and take the toy, this is a bad thing, ask her to wait for the treat and then when she is quietly sitting give her the treat you have hidden in your hand. You do not have to have the hidden treat, a "good girl" should be enough. Satisfaction that your dog has done work is enough.
