This little 5 wk old kitten was creeping along my deck, all slinked down, scared to death, soaking wet...right after a thunderstorm two weeks ago. We cornered him, scruffed him, and into a crate he went! After a few good meals - he's figured out that humans are just fine. Very sweet! Adopt A Pet is full of kittens right now, but they will find a spot for him. No idea WHERE he came from, and AAP said where there's one - there's more. I've looked around the yard, but we are right next to woods...so no clue. All I can say is thank goodness he knew where to go! He's safe and well fed! The middle picture is his new digs. Our front door foyer, complete with a cardboard gate that he cannot get over yet! I let him out a couple of times a day and he is learning kitty manners from our cat Eli! They are having a ball. Ever see a 14 lb cat take down a 1.5 lb kitten? I'll have to get pictures-hilarious. Last Edited By: Jody921 07/26/11 07:06 AM. Edited 1 time.

Posts: 571 07/26/11 07:30 AM	Awwwww how cute. Sure glad the storm was in your neighborhood and not mine. lol...Been a long time since I saw a small kitten around here. I guess they don't last long with all the hawks and coyotes.

Posts: 3852 07/26/11 07:49 AM Administrator	We live in the township Ed on four acres, woods one one side - neighbors quite a distance away. We do see the occasional cat and I went around and asked if anyone had kittens! Nope! One neighbor said that they were trapping racoons because they were horrible this year. So I am thinking that either a trap got the momma or a racoon got her and the other kittens. This is just so odd how one kitten showed up here on our deck. AAP wanted to know if someone might of planted him here because of them knowing I volunteer at a rescue. But I don't think so...he was definetely a wild one when I cornered him - so we'll never know for sure! Hubby had trimmed these huge pine trees out in front, and I went out there looking around for more kittens, but no sign. Mom cat might of been moving them also, and this little squirt took off. He's a lucky one for sure!

Cindy and Nash Nash was born 9/2/1998, and is my sweet 1/2 breed Cocker Spaniel/English Springer Spaniel. He was dx'd with diabetes in November 2007 and is currently on 9 units of Novelin N twice a day. Nash went blind approximately 6 mnths after dx, has glaucoma and gets eye drops 5x day

He is still young (only two) and has always wanted to play with Lacey, our 13 yr old cat and she will have no part of tussling, oh no, she is much to dignified for THAT! Eli takes down this kitten (has finally figured out how to do it, since the baby is so little) and then the kitten cries...Eli lets go of him, kitten runs off behind couch, and two seconds later, he's back for more abuse! Talk about entertainment! I think we will have him at least another week, maybe two. He has to make weight at 2 lbs before surgery, and usually they are 8 wks old then. We are guestimating him to be 7 wks old right now. There is a limit on how many kittens can be in the adoption room at AAP - hoping all the little ones there get good forever homes, so that there is room for all the ones waiting to get in, including this little guy. Yes, talk about fortunate.

Posts: 3852 12/14/11 03:10 PM Administrator	I was going thru some old posts here, and realized I hadn't updated this thread on my little visitor this past July! Mango was neutered, went in the kitten room at AAP, ended up getting a kitty virus which happens alot with shelter animals, and he had to be put in isolation, lost weight, and wasn't eating! So, the cat coordinators at AAP said that he needed to come back to my house to get better and would I consider it? Of course I would! Just make me get a wee bit more attached to the little guy! UGH! As soon as he was not contagious to my cats, back in our living quarters he came, and I had him for maybe another month. I so wanted to keep him, but I knew my limits and as happy as he was here, he indeed needed a new home! I rec'd a call one day that a nice lady wanted to meet my Mango. Off we went, and she was so taken by his calmness in my arms with all the hustle and bustle at the rescue center. Of course, he was in my protective arms and he felt safe. This nice lady adopted my Mango on the spot! HE GOT HIS FOREVER HOME -- YAY!

Posts: 3852 12/26/11 01:59 PM Administrator	My little visitor is now named Shooter Wales...his new owner posted this picture of him on Adopt A Pet's website. I cried when I saw him....happy tears of course! He is one spoiled kitty, and I guess a holy terror....my cats taught him well. =)

Posts: 571 12/28/11 10:51 AM	Poor little guy.. That's what you call, good news and bad news..Good news he found a good home, bad news is a stuck a name like that on him. lol..I guess most cats couldn't really care less, ours might as well not even have names, they ignore you anyway.
