Posts: 138 05/28/11 07:38 PM	Tags : None Outdoor ones...specifically my neighbours I dont let Skye Shit in thier yard, why do they seem to think it is okay for thier cats to shit in my garden and my KIDS sandbox????? I have spoken to them and they dont care, I have taught Skye to chase them away...great when she is outside, I have talked to bylaw...but because I am in the country the same "rules" dont apply, My husband is threatening BB guns!!!!!! I have cats...it is not like I hate cats, but mine are indoor cats for many reason, one of them being so that they dont use other peoples gardens as a litterbox. This is just a vent, but if anyone has any good ways of getting cats to stay out of my gardens please please let me know!

Posts: 3852 05/28/11 09:47 PM Administrator	I love cats too, but they do not need to be in other people's yards. I hear you loud and clear. How about getting a big strong squirt gun or hose. Lay low and then squirt them! Or...get traps. Humane traps that is. Catch the cats, then take them to animal control. Notify the neighbor, they will have to go there and pay to get them out. Maybe this will get their attention!

OR, get one of those motion detector things that turns on the sprinkler or moves, they have all kinds of stuff like that on the Internet. Worth a try. Cindy and Nash Nash was born 9/2/1998, and is my sweet 1/2 breed Cocker Spaniel/English Springer Spaniel. He was dx'd with diabetes in November 2007 and is currently on 9 units of Novelin N twice a day. Nash went blind approximately 6 mnths after dx, has glaucoma and gets eye drops 5x day

His brother and mother live next door and I catch them in the gardens also, plus they like to hunt the birds at the feeders. There is some outdoor pest repellent you can get, and it includes cats, etc on the label, our one local nursery sells it... Our doggies love chasing them plus the hose does work...tho don't tell my neighbor I have done that lol.

Posts: 138 05/29/11 08:11 PM	Coyote urine defiently wont work. I often have coyotes walking across my property...the cats arent phased by it. They know to steer clear of them, but urine smell means nothing to them. Even Skye just pee's over top of thier pee. I am thinking a sensor thing to spray them for the garden...and then maybe orange oil in the girls sandbox. Maybe some critter ridder thing along tghe hedge line where they come in....

Moderator Posts: 3053 05/30/11 06:30 AM	Plus do as I did for the neighbor's dog that use to come into my yard and do his business...I picked it up and left it on my neighbor's yard...he has a burmese mountain dog, one thing to clean up after my two little girls but will not clean up after a horse...After that he kept his dog out of our yard, tho one day I caught him in the yard with a shovel to get his dog's deposit which was funny to watch

I do like the idea of leaving the cat's "deposits" in a bag in their yard. Sissy, a 15 1/2 year old lhasa apso left for the Rainbow Bridge on February 28, 2009. She was diagnosed on September 21, 2007. You can run and your eyes are clear, my girl. On March 8, 2009, we adopted Fritz, a Bichon Frise puppy. He is a rescue dog with a beautiful spirit.
