Posts: 571 12/10/10 11:16 AM	Thank you Carolyn, that is really nice of you...BUT, there's a little story that goes with this one..We found her roaming around on a country road near where we live, Dec. 10th. 2004. She was in horrible shape so we took her right straight to the Vet. after he examined her we asked if he had any idea how old she was. He said she was between 10 and 14, so we decided to split it and give her the age of 12, with the day we found her as her birthday Dec. 10th..We've had her 6 years, so now she would be between 16 and 20, so again we split it and make her 18. lol..All we know for sure is we've had 6 years of pure unconditional love, and praying for more.

Cindy and Nash Nash was born 9/2/1998, and is my sweet 1/2 breed Cocker Spaniel/English Springer Spaniel. He was dx'd with diabetes in November 2007 and is currently on 9 units of Novelin N twice a day. Nash went blind approximately 6 mnths after dx, has glaucoma and gets eye drops 5x day

Posts: 571 12/10/10 10:47 PM	Awwww, thanks you all, for such nice comments..I couldn't do it without the good help I have. My girlfriend "Jean" loves animals just as much as I do. So I guess the animals and I are both lucky to have her on our side. She supports me completely in my love and care for the animals. I only wish she would support me when I go on a protest, but she's very shy and doesn't like attention. I on the other hand try to get all the attention I can, without getting arrested. After all, that's what protests are all about. But she does a lot of other good things to help me out.

Important especially when we are talking to them in baby talk and making a fuss over them . Did she wear apart hat and have cake. Pictures please ?

Posts: 571 12/13/10 01:54 PM	Thanks girls. I told Jean what you all said, she's kinda shy, but she said "Thank you". It would be hard to do without her help. Everything is so expensive anymore. We've got about $2,000 dollars in Maggie, and not done yet. Have to go back Friday for more tests to see if the medicine is helping her kidneys.. Little Bit is a very picky eater. What she loves today she may hate tomorrow. We've got at least 10 different flavors and types of food. We just keep trying them til we find the one she wants right then, some times it's none of them and she won't eat at all. We don't get too excited when she won't eat for a couple of days, then she'll eat anything we give her. Nope, Marianne, no party hat, had a dog food cake but she wouldn't eat it. lol..She just slept and relaxed all day. Of course that's what she does every day but that was special because that was HER day. Poor little thing just has one eye, only a few teeth, respiratory problems, and a bad heart. She's on medicine for those things. Just hope and pray we get a few more years with her.

I'm afraid the medicine we've been putting in her eye for years has stopped working, on the glaucoma, her eye is starting to swell. We won't let her suffer with it, we'll have it removed, if they can do it with her bad heart. She can't see with it anyway, she's been blind for 3 or 4 years. You can hardly tell she's blind by watching her, we're just careful about moving things..We got used to that when Snoopy went blind, and before that Sunny, he was blind too.

Of course, he's just coming up on 1 year with it, but has been doing well. I have heard they eventually don't do well (the eye starts to swell again). Of course, the issue is that she'd have to be put under, which is bad on the 'bad' heart. Let us know what the Vet says. Posts: 571 12/17/10 07:24 PM	She's on, Pilocapine Hydrochloride Ophthalmic 4%, 1 drop 3 times a day..She's been on it for at least 4 years, she was on 2% but it quit working so the Vet. raised it to 4%...The Vet. doesn't want to do surgery because of the risk. But I heard that glaucoma is similar to a bad migraine headache as far as the pain. I wound rather take the risk of surgery than have her in that much pain. I can't stand it when I think one of my pets is in pain. I'll let you all know what the Vet says.
