The other day, dragged me down...we were having a good walk, all of a SUDDEN, she smelled 'something' DRAGGED ME DOWN! I fell, and hurt my knee...GOT HOME, and cried I will survive...BUT... Drat! I can't have an injury, with my other medical problems...THIS IS NOT GOOD!

Posts: 1994 09/01/10 05:17 PM	Sorry you fell. A few weeks back I was walking my 90 # Harley. He ended up crossing my path. Of course I wasn't paying attention. I had 4 x rays done. All was fine. Just hurt like heck, Still hurts. Love that face. Innocent. Not!!!! Btw falling is lot worse as you get older. I know that for sure.

Posts: 975 09/01/10 06:37 PM	Tiglibud...Two problems are evident. One, she leads and you follow. You are walking her, not the other way around. Wrong lead in use. Buy a lead collar (choke chain) and snap it when the dog wanders away from you. She should always walk by your side, not ahead or behind.... choke chains sound cruel but are not at all. One snap and they begin to pay attention that you are in charge. Every dog needs a leader. (much like a husband)

He heels like a champ with that collar on. Sissy, a 15 1/2 year old lhasa apso left for the Rainbow Bridge on February 28, 2009. She was diagnosed on September 21, 2007. You can run and your eyes are clear, my girl. On March 8, 2009, we adopted Fritz, a Bichon Frise puppy. He is a rescue dog with a beautiful spirit.

The bigger stores aren't as good at educating their employees or hiring knowledgable employees. Of course, watching Ceasar and Victoria will help too! Let us know how it goes. He was dx'd with diabetes in November 2007 and is currently on 9 units of Novelin N twice a day. Nash went blind approximately 6 mnths after dx, has glaucoma and gets eye drops 5x day

Posts: 1994 09/07/10 08:11 PM	I personally like the German choke collars. It is the one with prongs. Doesn't hurt the dog when you snap it. After all dogs have 12 layers of fat on their neck Davis curious do you wear one? I would think after all these years you should be already been trained!!!

Posts: 975 09/08/10 11:35 AM	Marianne....Must admit that my ability to train dogs for the show ring comes directly from so many years of marriage. On the serious side though, it is not the dog-end of the lead that controls the dog. It is the handler end of the lead that counts. Any dog can be a dufus nutcase when off the lead but once the lead is put around his neck, he is all attentive. You will seldom see a show dog having his lead adjusted in the ring.
