Hi everyone
I wanted to share these, especially with those who are just learning about having a diabetic baby. I remember the first time I came to the diabetes message board, in 2007. Our little guy, Moki was in extreme fragile condition, He was very sick & prognosis was not good. He lost 1/2 of his body weight (4 lbs), his long silky white hair was almost gone, he could no longer walk (slipped disc), & cataracts limited his vision. He began to get a large open sore on one of his legs. He was 12 yrs at the time, almost 13. For months his doctors tried to find out what was wrong with our little boy, everything pointed to diabetes, except his blood sugar. BG's were not showing up high. (have no idea why) But after 4 months of tests, he finally crashed with a blood sugar over 800. He was immediately admitted to the hospital, in oxygen unit, barely breathing. They didnt think he would make it through the night. But I knew....I knew my Moki...and he wasnt near ready to give up, & we weren't either. Moki was in the hospital for 5 days. During that time I tried to learn all I could about diabetes. I remember signing into the message board, the first topic I pulled was someone who posted pictures of the progress their baby had made, before & after regulating. I will never forget the inspiration & hope those photos gave me. I hope these may also help someone feel those same feelings. Giving you strength, courage & determination to help your baby on their diabetic journey.

Moki 2 weeks after diabetes diagnosis December 2007

Moki 2 months after diagnosis March 2008

Hair & weight both came back!

This picture means a whole lot! Moki's hair grew back so long it was time for his first haircut in almost a year.
He actually fell asleep while daddy was cutting his hair, Slept right through the haircut, this pic was taken right after...Still sleeping!
August 2008, (leg sore is completely healed)

Moki March 2009 My Beautiful Boy!
Moki entered Heaven on April 5, 2009, after going into rapid kidney failure, at the age of 14 1/2. I am so thankful for that extra time we were given with him. His last years were beautiful despite being diabetic. It was a gift to care for such a special little guy.
