A small group has been formed from fellow AKC members to advance the elimination of puppy mills in Michigan, Arkansas and Missouri. You ladies can take credit for this avalanche of correspondence. Posts: 3847 03/06/10 07:53 PM Administrator	They had a special on mills last night on the series called "Dog Town". (Friday nights here in Michigan) It was a wonderful education for people that might consider getting a dog from a petstore. Boy, they tore them up but good! They showed the dogs that came from a couple of mills, I think it was in Nebraska....but not 100% sure on that. They couldn't bring camera's onto the property or else they would not be able to get any dogs out of there. Gosh, it was so sad to see the adult dogs that had medical issues and the ones that were not taken care of properly. Broke my heart.

That is where Jody and I live, and Missouri is where our Abbey, Jacque's rescue/adopted redhead is from. And we believe, probably a puppy mill. Again, God Bless you Davis. Do keep us up on this. Moderator Posts: 1494 03/06/10 10:27 PM	I am getting signatures on my petition to ban dog auctions in Ohio. Everyone signs it - who is going to admit - to me anyway - that dog auctions are OK. I am doing this in honor of my Fritz -a puppy mill dog. Sissy, a 15 1/2 year old lhasa apso left for the Rainbow Bridge on February 28, 2009. She was diagnosed on September 21, 2007. You can run and your eyes are clear, my girl. On March 8, 2009, we adopted Fritz, a Bichon Frise puppy. He is a rescue dog with a beautiful spirit.

Posts: 975 03/19/10 08:52 PM	More updates on legislative puppy mill news. Having a great response from Michigan lawmakers and they appear ready to help. Missouri is sending out interest but we need more support instate to constantly remind the legislatures. Arkansas seems to really care less but we are keeping up the fire. Does anyone know any active dog owners in Arkansas that could help??

Posts: 975 06/09/10 04:36 PM	Thanks, Cindy but no....am really bogged down now on definitions. Doesn't sound hard but define a puppy mill is difficult. What is covered....backyard breeders vs professional...all lead to unhealthy dogs. We can't require genetic heredity testing all all puppies.
