I fed her at her normal time 7:30, had her insulin on my desk, layed down on the couch and fell asleep. I woke up at 9:30, was refreshed, and now at almost 3 am I'm still up. I just found her insulin still where I put it- I never gave it to her. She is up and drinking. I've never done this before and gosh, what to do? So, what I did do is give her more food (it's only 4 hours until she's due to eat again, and gave her a full dose (5.5 U). I'm really tired now and afraid to go to bed. I tested her 10 minutes ago and she was reading 498!!!!!!!! I really hope I haven't messed her up for the long run, please tell me I didn't. So my question is, what to do tomorrow (Fri.). I guess I have to wait until 3 pm to feed her tomorrow since that's when she just ate, then give insulin again then. God, we are going to be so off now. Does this mean I'm going to be up till all hours of the night for the next couple weeks??????????????????? and my Lucy, American Pugsley, age 15 -born 4/18/1996, DX. diabetic Nov. 07, blind 2/08, Weight 11 lbs., Humulin N 7 U , Homecooked chicken/white rice with canned Hills W/D My sweet, baby Lucy left me peacefully on October, 24, 2011 with her head on my shoulder and my comforting whispers in her poor little, deaf ear. I know she was met faithfully at the bridge by all her friends that went before her. Rest in peace, my baby. Lucy, 4/18/96-10/24/11

Posts: 193 (11/27/09 08:12 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dee, first of all, try to stop beating yourself up. All of us have done this at some point...we are all human and make mistakes. Second, yes, Gummy will be off kilter for a few days...but she will be fine. Just try to adjust the meal and shot by an hour each day (or half hour each meal...), and it will work out. You haven't done anything that will permanently hurt her, and it WILL be okay. Let us know how she is later today, okay? Moderator Posts: 2957 (11/27/09 08:28 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Now first take a deep breath, breathe in and out slowly, she will be fine, just watch her for a couple days to see how she is acting and test her, adjust accordingly, even us humans have forgotten to take meds etc, but we continue on to the next day and put that day behind us..

Posts: 9789 (11/27/09 10:58 AM) Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dee sweetie, it's okay. Just breath deep. Okay, so now you're at 3 and 3. And you need to adjust that. So. For now, don't panic. Just feed and give her insulin at 3 PM today. Same amount, same time. Then you'll need to start adjusting her a bit forward over the next few days. Obviously 7 and 7 are your times correct? So, even if you could go out to 3:30-4 this afternoon. I wouldn't go out too much today, because today is the day she will feel the changes because of this morning. So, then tomorrow morning you can push her out just a bit again (like 4-4:30). Problem is that she will probably show some higher numbers. But, it is what it is for now. It's probably going to take you the whole weekend to get her back to her 7 times. Just adjust her forward 1/2 as you can to get her back to the times that work for you. We adjust Nash back quite a bit the last few days so that we could get home late last night. And I refused to test him otherwise it will send me over the edge. He is doing fine, and I'm watching him closely. Now, we're working on moving him back up to his normal time. Thankfully we have the whole weekend to do this. She'll be fine Dee. Just relax and move her as you can. Hugs to you!!! Its even worse if you cant remember if you gave the shot !!LOL !! Starting a chart that you check off each time she has her insulin is a good idea... that way you remember or if someone else had to do it they also would know.. Another thing you can do is always leave out two syringes and then you also know if a shot was given,,,, As for feeding her at 3am and shot... Ok now you have to count 12 hrs.... you can go to 11... but no more... So then you would go to 2 pm... then tonight 1 am... then 12.00 , then 11 and so on till your back where you need to be... Yes she will have some wacky number's till she is back to being on a normal seclude.. but its not the end of the world... We have all done this...She will be fine ....

We had to adjust Nash's schedule this week to accommodate Thanksgiving, backing him up a lot, and now we're have to do just the opposite. It can be so daunting!
