Jody...wish I did. I NEVER EVER would mistreat or be mean but sometimes I do feel sorry for myself. Used to cry and cuss Bo's illness. Now that one like to
have killed me but I felt so bad for him. I will never forget that, all the nights with no sleep. I was a zombie and all the vets here hated to see me
coming!!! Nick has been a piece of cake compared to Bo but diabetes is confining.
Now little Nick. He is such a good boy. He has had it rough and I just feel he needs my care although believe me I never ever thought I would have another diabetic so soon or ever!!!. Sometimes I think God is testing me??? Don't really know but I have talked to many others around here and my family. Seems no one gets the sick dogs but me????? I am going on vacation next week but my son will be here and he can do it. Nick will still be here at my house. When son moves I don't know????? If he goes with my son he will have to PROMISE to take care of him. Which really he did well the 6 months before when he kept him. But of course not as many BS cks ect as when grandma has him. Oh Kay
You need to keep Nick !! You know you will always worry your self sick wondering... Its just easier to keep him and know that hes getting the care he needs... If what happened to him happens again Nick might not make it.. Don't you think that its so much easier for you with Nick is because you got all your training from Bo? So nick was meant to be with you... What are the odds of two family members having a diabetic dog??? Hes yours Kay !! |

I think you'll have a really hard time giving up Nick. Just my opinion, but he sounds like a keeper. And you always have the son to take care of him when
you need or want to go away.
Don't you love us Kay? We've already gotten your life planned out for you!!! LOL

I understand your thinking Kay. Mom's cannot always take over their kid's problems. If your son moves out and decides he can take HIS DOG - then he
should. Life's lessons at work here. It's always so easy to just get a dog - what people don't realize is that you give a committment to them for
the rest of their lives. Not until they get sick and then we dump him/her on Mom.....so many people are like this.
However - this will be up to you Kay. I undertand you TOTALLY on being tied down with a diabetic. But it is nice to have your son as a backup - or you to be his backup. We all know how much that plays into their diabetic day! And you about BO! See - we all thought you were a saint for doing what you did for that guy. Yes, perhaps you are being tested right now Kay - just remember he never gives you more than you can handle. KIDS - don't cha just love 'em!!!!!

Yes I give it a lot of thought about Nick. Don't know. When son moves he will be 4 hours away so not like I can leave him there whenever. Still thinking
but inclined to keep Nick here.

Kay, I think you just answered your own question!!!
In your heart you will do what you feel best for Nick no matter what! I so admire you but I also know what it means with regard to your own life. We Animal lovers really do sacrifice but then again so do many parents??? A really hard call isn`t it??? Sorry I`m of no help but I understand.

Johanna..you are too funny! and Thank you Carolyn. It will all work out. I don't think I have stressed how much Nick does love my son and my son him. We
will see waht happens . I know I will have him for awhile yet as it will be awhile before son moves and settles. Thanks Jody ie: Bo. I just kept thinking
someone could "cure" him. that was one of the hardest things ever. He was never the same after all that even though the diarrhea finally did subside
BUT then the BS went out of control with the steroids. Poor fellow.

I knew it!! He's stolen your heart. WOW, 4 hours away......that is hard. Do you have any back up near you to help with Nick in a crunch? Sure, if you
go on vacation your son can help, but just for a day or two that is a long ride. But, I really think Nick is better with you, just my opinion. And though it
should be your son's responsibility, I know you are trying to think what is best for Nick.
I am trying to remember, didn't you go back to work fulltime just recently? I know it's a lot, but I think you are pretty darn wonderful for taking another diabetic into your home. Who would have ever thought you'd have another ah?

No, I am not working right now but seriously thinking of going back. Just don't know at this point. I would have never thought I would have another
diabetic so soon. Now I worry about Emma! But what will be will be. No, when son moves no one here to help. So that is a thought too........

Of course, being 4 hours away, he doesn't have anyone to help either......that is probably more of a problem for him then you.
Thing is, you are home and better to take care of Nick (gosh, do you get the impression I think you should keep Nick?)......it's hard isn't it!!?? Well, you do what is best for you!! Keep us up on stuff, okay?

Nick is great. Had a few days of High BS but I was feeding him more then he did not want all of it so he is back on routine now. He had a haircut yesterday. No
more bed poops. My son is still here. It is so hard to find a job right now. so he is here when I want to go somewhere. Hope you and all your babies are doing
fine!!!!!

OM Gosh Kay, Nick is a truly gorgeous little guy! I'd never give him up, that's for sure. He looks so much like my little Spikey who we lost so long
