Hi, Johanna, You are doing ok- you know you have an immature dog on your hands and like I have written before, you forget how many times the previous dog has
been bad or what they have done to upset you. Charlie will be a good dog.
In my experience taking your dog out -where ever that maybe- is good. It is good for both of you. If you think that you did the wrong thing don't. You may
have done the best thing for Charlie. It gives him lots to think about the next time he is home too!

Dogs do not have thoughts like we do, they live for the moment- as Ceaser may say on TV- They will learn from that outing. Can't say anything wrong about
that one Jo! - all the best Kathy

Kathy
I work at home... So I dont have to go our very much really///
But if I do its not for to long... that 5 hrs the other day was long even for me...
Charlie goes out every morning and the way my kitchen is set up there is no reason for him to do anything in the house...
I do have the rest of the house closed off to him...
There is a baby gate on the kitchen steps stopping him from going up stares and coming down the back steps into the living room.
What he and all the dogs have access to all the time is....
The kitchen, my den and bedroom. all together on the same floor and imposable to close off...
I had to pick up a girl from the dentist today... I picked up everything and made sure that there was nothing in Charlie nose height...
I was really nervous coming in the door but all was good !!!
Nothing was touched... Although nothing was in touch height ether.
I was at the supermarket so they all get fresh bones to dig...

Oh Johanna, so your little boy isn't the good big brother I thought he was. It is not unusual for new mums to forget the bad behaviour of their previous
puppies. You may have had something like this happen before with Killian- well at least his overzealous behaviour.
Remember Charlie is young. He will still have his moment controlling his bowels. No, they do not get angry and jealous. He didn't poo on the floor because
he was upset with you leaving him- Dogs do not have human emotions, the live for the moment. If they have an itch they scratch, if they see a rabbit they chase
it.

Just as you did when he was 6 weeks old, Charlie needs to have the chance to pee and poo after he wakes, after he eats and after he plays. Yes, it is good to
take him out before you go to work but you need to watch him and see that he has done his business. Often, and I do this, you will let him out and call him
back in without knowing if he has gone for sure. Being young but older he...

Ok Jody here it goes !!!
YES IM HOME COOKING !!!!!! I posted that in the diet section on what do you feed your dog..
After killian I just like it better...

They also eat 2x a day .. Zoey and Lulu were on Killies schedule and ate a lot of the same food I made for him..
You have to give them all the same when you have more then one dog in the house...
They always need to play switch bowl's ( someone might have something better) so they have to check it out...
Charlie is good all night he never goes in the house...
Only if I go out !! or he gets in the living room...
I have the living room blocked off from all the dogs.
There was one or two days when It was really cold out so I didn't have the door open...
And Charlie was good... He would go to the kitchen and kinda look at the door and I let him out.
I know he knows better,, When he did poop in my living room and saw me spot it he took off into the yard....

When we left to go somewhere - the last thing that we did was let Taffy out. I'd say the same stuff too - Go PEE-PEE, HURRY UP....boy she would do her
business and right back in. Of course most times she thought she was coming with us.....but not always! When she got older we had the accidents especially
if we were gone for awhile, but that was to be expected.

Ok Johanna - please clarify what you mean by their 'HOT MEAL'. And when you're done telling me what I think it is....you'll have to explain
to me why you are doing this.

I think Charlie is taking well advantage of you. Let me guess.....he sleeps in your bed too, right?

So - when you leave him - he's rebelling. He's not being treated like a dog. He then gets to go in and out of the house as he pleases, when he
pleases. Does he know how to ask to go out? Have you picked up on any signs or signals that he gives you. Abby just gave us this 'look' - and Taffy
would sit by the patio door and bark...she had it down real good! Many a night, she would bark to go potty!

You are too good to your animals Johanna. When I come back around next time if I am a dog - I'm going to ask to be a pitt bull, and head to your house,
hands down!

I'd crate him for sure - even at night! He must learn rules and know...

Of coarse I let the dogs out !! I always let them out when I get up and as long as Charlie has been here I dont even shut the kitchen door...
I leave it open all day so they have free run to go in and out at will.
As for yesterday The went out at 7pm.. and I left the door open till i had to leave for my meeting at 8:30 am...
So he had a full hour and a half to do what ever he needed,,,

I was home at 1:30. I realise that was 5 hrs... But still what I came home to was ridicules !!
I also didn't feed them before I left/// They had there dry if they wanted but They didn't get there hot meal till I returned !

Ah - the joys of puppyhood! I think (hope) I am on the downhill slide, but who knows. One thing I noticed with Fritz when he takes something (shoe, belt,
glasses, rug,) when I tell him to drop it, he runs then he drops it but just keeps running like a maniac through the house. Somewhere, he learned that this is
a game! So now, I just stare at him until he drops it, pick it up and leave without saying a word. It took a long time for Fritz to stop pooping and peeing
in the house, but he has stopped and goes potty outside like a champ. Are you expecting too much too soon? I know I did. Maybe some obedience lessons? It
gives them a task - something to do. I tell Fritz we are going to work, and he runs to where I keep his choke collar! I would at least try a crate - it
didn't work for Fritz, but lots of people use them and I think they are great. Maybe he is just one of those dogs that feels safer if he is confined to a
small space. Keep up the good work - it will get...

Johanna,
Do you bring the dogs out before you leave the house for 15 minutes or so?

Whenever we go out whether it be for an hour or more I announce to my 5 dogs to go outside and go pee pee. Some say potty!!!If Charlie is the type of dog that
gets distracted easily why not take him out by himself? This way he will do his business. Then when he poops and pee you can do the happy dance!!!! You can let
your neighbors know that you are elated that Charlie pooped and or peed. Then you can give him a treat after you have told him that he is a good boy.

With the Demon Sebastian I would have to crate him as he I think has separation anxiety or he was just being a puppy at 2 years old.His favorite chew toy was
my oak table and cherry wood hutch!!!

Did you give Charlie anything new in his food? Maybe change his diet or add new dry food? Had you fed him recently?

I know with my dogs that they will tell you when they have to go out say when I...
