My younger son has a yr and half old mini schnauzer. Also an 11 yr old one. Both males. The young one is NOT neutered because son associates it with a
human male and says he can't do it. UGH!!!! Anyway they both mark territory in the house. The older is neutered only because of a prostate problem at 8
yrs old. My older son is staying with them this week as younger son is on vacation. He lets them out in fenced yard many times a day. the yr old dog
"Snickers" waits...

Hi, I know how you feel I have similar problems with my daughter. She's training to be a teacher while doing her English degree. I have over 10 years
teaching experience, she will not let me talk to her about how to teach in a classroom.- I should say she will not let me tell her anything. I have to use a
lot of cunning and bribery to get her to do most things. What is it?
I would say to your son that he needs help his place stinks, he should employ someone to get his dog trained! maybe he might have a second thought about the
sanitary reasons- who knows. I feel for you! You are a good mum for trying. xx Kathy

Kay - I know this is your son! Ever wonder how they are related to you? Sometimes I ask myself that exact same question with mine! He is 22! He wants a
BIG dog someday and I said good when you get your own place, you get your BIG dog. Have a good job to buy it's food, and a nice cleanup business to do
your yard! I will have to add that NO YOU CANNOT COME HOME WITH IT IN A YEAR. Maybe I had better get working on a contract of sorts. LOL

I could see how you would fall in love with schnauzers. They are so cute and bouncy! One day in the park there was a lady driving around and a loose
schnauzer running along side her vehicle (no other cars) - she had the cutest name - anyways the lady finally got out and we talked, she said Sparkles loves to
run, and I can't do it. So she runs and I drive! It was so cute and she listened so well.

I can see you running out of steam soon - too many illnesses. Seems like the schnauzer has alot of them - diabetes...

Jody it is my son..He compares it with if someone cut his off!!!!! I know but he has that mentality. Don't get me wrong...they LOVE their dogs but they let
the dogs run the household. I make them wear the belly bands here but Snickers can still pee out of his at times so after they leave I always find a spot or
two.

As far as schnauzers....In 1991 we met some people at the lake that had schnauzers. About 2 or 3 couples had them. I fell in love with the bearded face. I had
never had a dog inside ever!!!! Well we got Alex and he was our joy. So smart so sweet and headstrong. Then I dont know why I wanted another...(stupid) so 1995
Bo comes along. 1998 Gauge for for younger son, Nick for Older son. Then Charlie also(westie). When Al died in 2003 my heart broke and Bo grieved so bad. that
is when Emma came along. BUT I tell you I am almost dogged out with all these illnesses and I am not as young as I once was!!!!

In 2008 younger son wants another and got Frodo....

I am in awe also that your kids could be so stupid. Certainly, they didn't learn this stuff from their parents, did they? How about getting a big stick
and whacking them along side the head. Not neutering their dog - now that is plain STUPID. I know that mentality though.....heaven forbid they lose their
family jewels.....heaven forbid they get testicular cancer some day....and chasing female dogs is ALWAYS on their minds!

If my kids have a dog like this - then it wouldn't be allowed in my home. No way, no how. I don't blame you one stinkin bit Kay! Just lay down the
law.

You can't make them do what they are supposed to do - and I'm like Johanna in thinking just how long before they bring that dog over to Mom to help
them. You poor thing.

You will have to share how you got the schnauzer blood in you and how many you have had in your life....and your kids too.

hi, I was busy with my own clients, when it rains it pours.
I hate piddle pads. they do nothing for the dog. IMO the house training is delayed not helped with them. Crating is good, this will help control the dogs
movements. Also, there is no excuse now for you not to desex a dog. Both sexes have very good reasons to be desexed, Cancer is on top of the list. With Girls
it is intrauterine infections- bacteria can enter the womb during their heat period.
So much of a male dogs behaviour is controlled by their hormones. Marking is just one. I have a bone to pick with your son!!!

You need to have physical control of Snickers. I would walk him out on a lead and watch him pee and possibly poo. Each time he goes you need to say "good
BOY! go potty!" Then bring him in. I also advise having a handle on him at all times until you have this under control- a very short lead. Ideally about a
foot and a half long ( or there abouts). This is so that you have...

Why on earth anyone would let a dog foul their house for 11 years, then get ANOTHER dog and let it do the same thing is beyond me. I have had my trials with
housebreaking in the past (surprisingly, Fritz was the easiest), but something like this is going to take some serious training - perhaps even a personal
trainer. At some time, I'm sure all our homes smelled like dog pee, but to let it go on 11 years - ewwww. I don't know how old your son is, but there
seems to be a lack of cleanliness skills in those young people over 30. Crating or confinement is probably the only thing that will work with the older dog.
I just have trouble thinking - "No, Mom, it is cruel to crate the dogs, we'd rather they pee and poop in the house while we are gone. Your poor
grandson - he is going to smell like dog pee and the other kids are going to make fun of him. You have a tough job here, Mom. Good luck.

I had 2 males before Emma. Never a problem. Both neutered as pups but I also kept house training them. If they peed I took them out and showed them, never
spanked just rewarded. This one Snickers just goes out plays then he walked in last night hiked and peed on dishwasher and then went to LR carpet and pooped.
Older son is there and says it is like he doesn't know to pee outside. I know it is laziness on my other son and Dil plus they don't correct. Crating
..no..he would feel it was mistreatment but he could gate them in the LR or kithchen but doubt he will. I just hate they have let 2 dogs ruin their house.
Houses should build some equity and this one will have to be redone if they ever sell. PLUS...my 9 yr old grandson lives there and I hate him to be raised in
this pee enviornment. PLUS now it is so hard at holidays because honestly I don't want the dogs peeing all over my house. We bought the belley bands but
Snickers still hikes and pees. Keeps me upset and on guard.
